Deitrick Haddon Tops Gospel Airplay Chart

Plus, Bethel Music notches its 15th top 10 on Top Christian Albums.

Veteran singer-songwriter and pastor Deitrick Haddon achieves his second No. 1 on Billboard‘s Gospel Airplay chart, as “Open Door Season” hops 4-1 on the list dated June 13.

In the tracking week ending June 7, “Season” increased by 5% in plays, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.

The song, which Haddon solely wrote, is the second Gospel Airplay No. 1 among 17 entries and 10 top 10s for the Detroit native, who is the lead pastor at Los Angeles’ Hill City Church. His first leader, “A Billion People,” ruled for a week in September 2017. He first reached Billboard‘s charts in 1998.

“I am very excited about ‘Open Door Season’ being No. 1,” Haddon says. Referencing the COVID-19 pandemic, he muses, “People need to know that doors are still open for them, even though we have been sheltering inside. It’s not over, and God is still working.

“It’s been 20-plus years and this is my second No. 1. If I never get another one, I’m just grateful that God is still using me. All over the world, people tell me how much my songs have helped them. That’s all that I can ask for. I thank all of them, everywhere, for the support and love.”

BETHEL MUSIC BOWS Worship music collective Bethel Music notches its 15th top 10 on Top Christian Albums, as Revival’s in the Air bounds onto the tally at No. 2. In its first week, ending June 4, it earned 5,000 equivalent album units, with 3,000 in album sales.
