We’re seeing who is stepping up to the plate, and who’s all talk.
For Drake, one of our generation’s most successful artists, he’s putting money where his mouth is. According to sources, Drake has donated $100K to help bail out protestors who have rallied in the wake of George Floyd’s murder. Credit to another Toronto artist, Mustafa the Poet, who initially made a $400 donation to National Bail Out. He later called out Drake to match his donation.
Drake, of course, followed up quickly and shared a screenshot on social media of his $100,000 donation receipt. “Say less brother,” replied Drake.
Many fans were surprised to see the Toronto rapper even acknowledging the challenge, as he’s always been apolitical when it comes to his views. But he’s voiced his solidarity openly with the protestors amidst the injustices.
He also shared this poem (seen below) in remembrance of George Floyd.
