Elegance and Craftsmanship Define Sillage’s SS23 Collection

Nicolas Chalmeau, better known by his middle name, Yuthanan, has been quietly paving his own lane in the crowded field of fashion. Originally from Paris, the Tokyo transplant has tapped into Japan’s history of craftsmanship through his label Sillage, which features largely oversized garments that have been uniquely tailored in small batches.

For Spring/Summer 2023, the brand has released a number of timeless staples that will add flare to your wardrobe. Starting with the core collection, Sillage is placing emphasis on the great outdoors, through an apron that is available in a long and short length. For those looking to wear cargos year-round, Sillage’s latest iteration is made in fine french linen, available in both ivory and black, as well as a shorts iteration that includes more vibrant hues, such as green and orange.

There is of course a suite of new essential pieces, including the popover shirt that comes in a long and short sleeve option. Additional highlights include Sillage’s siganture Hakama pants, Gilet and Circular Pants, now crafted in a dark tropical wool, as well as stunning Japanese denim, sourced from Okayama, the proverbial “denim capital of the world.”

Both the Antique and Artisanal collections have added new fabrics that have been sourced from around the world. Last, but certainly not least, the accessories and footwear in Sillage’s latest line rivals the clothing, such as the revamped Field Hat, Casquette, Chapeau and French Safari Hat.

Similarly, the Coin Loafer Mule will add elegance and comfort to your rotation, featuring a mule crafted in ostrich and snakeskin patterns and designed in collaboration with Japanese maker Tomo & Co. The shoe comes equipped with a Vibram outsole and each pair comes with a Thai Baht or French Franc — a tribute to Yuthanan’s two home countries, Thailand and France.
