Eminem Signs Atlanta Rapper Grip to Shady Records

Meet the newest member of Shady Records.

Eminem has signed Atlanta rapper Grip to his label in partnership with Interscope Records. Em welcomed Grip to the Shady family, sharing a photo of him alongside his newest signee in the studio.

Grip, who has been called “Atlanta’s Next Great Storyteller,” has garnered buzz with his 2017 breakout project Porch, which was followed by 2019’s Snubhouse and 2020’s Halo and PROBOSCIDEA.

Grip caught the ear of Eminem’s manager and Shady Records president Paul Rosenberg, who brought him to Eminem’s attention. “Grip is the type of artist that brings you into his world and expresses himself through a complete composed body of work,” said Rosenberg. “If true album artists in this era are a rare breed–then Grip is a unicorn! We’re excited for him to join the Shady Records family.”

Added Grip, “It was one of those full circle moments because I grew up on Eminem so to have him reach out and let me know how dope my shit is was so cool. Excited to partner with Shady/Interscope and get the music out on a larger platform.”

On Friday, Grip released his first Shady Records single, “Gutter,” along with a video. He is now readying his debut album for Shady, due later this year.

He joins the Shady roster, which has included Westside Boogie plus recent Shady alumni, Griselda’s Westside Gunn and Conway the Machine.
