Ricky Martin‘s “Tiburones,” a powerful ballad released in January, has gotten a new version featuring compatriot Farruko. The upbeat remix gives the already hit song a new life with urban-tinged beats and Farruko’s distinctive vocals and rhymes.
Promoting peace, love and acceptance, “Tiburones” was inspired by the protests over Gov. Ricardo Rossello that sparked in Puerto Rico in 2019. It was penned by Pablo Preciado and Oscar Hernández. The original video, which has more than 15 million views on YouTube, was shot in Puerto Rico and directed by Kacho López.
“It’s an honor for me to do this,” Farruko said about the remix. “I admire what you do and I’ve always followed your career. I’m so happy to share this beautiful song with you that motivates people to put their hands up and leave violence behind and to hug each other during difficult times.”
It’s not the first time Farruko has jumped on a Ricky Martin song. In 2016, the two joined forces for Martin’s “Perdóname.”
