Rei Kawakubo‘s COMME des GARÇONS and its many diffusion lines have created a mini-universe within fashion, offering anything from cutting edge silhouettes to mind-bending concepts, charming accessories, striking fragrances and an ever-expanding list of collaborative projects. Over the years, one of the brand’s most notable partnerships is with Nike. Whether it be adding outrageous platform soles to the Nike Cortez or creating tees with archival graphics from the Swoosh, the two continue to keep things fresh.
Now — following the reveal of a COMME des GARÇONS Homme Plus x Nike Air Pegasus 2005 — BLACK COMME des GARÇONS has also revived an old sneaker with two colorways of the Tennis Classic. A silhouette that saw love from brands such as CLOT and fragment design last decade, the Tennis Classic offers a versatile look with its slick build. Appearing with all-leather uppers, colorways of black and white dress the shoe in their primary color from head to toe, an approach often employed by the brand.
Hang tight as release information for the BLACK COMME des GARÇONS x Nike Tennis Classic has not surfaced for either colorway. Expect it to launch via Dover Street Market later this year and stay tuned for an official reveal.
In other collaborative news, Billie Eilish continues her streak of monochromatic colorways with an all-white version of her Nike Air Force 1 Low.
