Geffen Records has appointed industry veteran Nicole Bilzerian to the newly-created position of executive vp, it was announced Wednesday (July 15). Bilzerian will oversee and expand marketing operations at the label alongside executive vp/GM Lee L’Heureux, who arrived at the company earlier this year.
Bilzerian joined Interscope Geffen A&M’s marketing department in 2013 and was eventually promoted to senior vp/head of urban marketing. She started her career at Jive Records in 2004. She was named to Billboard‘s 40 Under 40 list in 2018.
Geffen was relaunched in 2017 and has recently enjoyed success with partners including Alamo Records’ Rod Wave and Lil Durk, along with artists such as J.I and Anne Marie, whose Marshmello collaboration, “Friends,” peaked at No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 in June 2018. Last year, Geffen president Neil Jacobson stepped down from his post to start his own management, publishing and recording company, Crescent Drive Productions.
“Over the last 7 years Nicole has proven to be an invaluable part of the team at Interscope,” said Interscope Geffen A&M chairman and CEO, John Janick, in a statement. “We look forward to Nicole bringing her marketing expertise and deep relationships within the industry to Geffen, a label that continues to be an important launching pad for artists and partnerships.”
Bilzerian added, “Over the last six years I’ve had the honor and pleasure of working with one of the most talented marketing teams in the business. I look forward to expanding marketing operations at Geffen and working alongside Lee to support the label’s vibrant roster and growing list of diverse partnerships.”
