Gaten Matarazzo gets a little rock star assist from Billie Joe Armstrong.
It's the same old love story: boy meets girl, boy has crush on girl, girl doesn't notice boy, boy decides to get the coolest band in the land to play a gig on the school roof, boy jumps band on a motorcycle on said roof to impress girl. You know how that goes.
Even if you don't, that's basically the storyline in Green Day's meet cute video for "Meet Me on The Roof," a track from their just-released Father of All Motherf—ers album. The clip for the rockabilly-esque tune stars Stranger Things actor Gaten Matarazzo as the moon-eyed teen trying to get the attention of a girl in school. He, of course, does what anyone in his situation would, he notices that she's obsessed with "Mad" Willie Jackson (Armstrong), the rockingest stuntman in town, so he promotes a "Meet Me on The Roof" gig in the hopes that she'll show up.
Spoiler alert: she does, Green Day rock the show and he wows the crowd with a little help from Willie Jacks.
