This year, Puerto Rican rising singer Guaynaa surprised everyone with his song “Rebota.” How do we know? Well, because during Latin Music Week, Billboard did a small social survey to find out which song they thought would be the hottest this summer and surprisingly they chose "Rebota."
Casually, the Mexican-American singer Becky G was part of that group. “It’s crazy,” she tells Billboard. “I remember that I met Guaynaa during Billboard Latin Music Awards and I told him that I needed to be part of the song.” And, her wish came true.
The new version of the song adds brand new verses around Guaynaa's original lyrics. In the song, Becky G responds to the original's flirty lyric. “Yo tengo todo lo que un hombre necesita. No te confundas si me ves calladita. Por fuera sana, por dentro diablita” (I have everything a man needs. Don’t get confused if you see me quiet. I'm a little devil inside).
The original version was influenced by René Perez and Tego Calderon's music styles. It's very funny and the kind of song that you put on to make everyone dance, as Perez and Calderon did at the beginning of their careers. “Their albums had a peculiar style that made them stand out and that marked my life,” Guaynaa previously told Billboard.
On the Billboard charts, “Rebota” peaked at No. 34 on the Hot Latin Songs chart dated April 27 and currently is at No. 49. The video for the track has over 215 millions of views on YouTube.
