Gunna has launched his own record label after parting ways with YSL Records. Following the release of his new single for “Pop It” on Friday (Oct. 9), the artist announced his new music imprint, SB The Label, in partnership with Atlantic Music Group. The 33-year-old rapper serves as the CEO of the label, which has already established a roster featuring artists Casper Bluff, Nechie, and Dracc.
“SB THE LABEL represents the beginning of a new chapter for me,” Gunna said in a press statement. “It only felt right to start that chapter alongside my brothers Casper Bluff, Nechie, and Dracc, who are the first artists signed to the label. For me, this is about stepping into a new role, expanding what I can create, and building something that represents where I’m headed next.”
Atlantic Music Group Chairman and CEO Elliot Grainge expressed his support for the partnership, noting the significant impact the Atlanta rapper has had on the industry. “It’s impossible to overstate Gunna’s influence on this generation of hip-hop and music as a whole. We’re grateful and honored that he’s chosen AMG as his partner to bring this endeavor to music fans,” Grainge stated.
The launch of the label coincides with the release of the “Pop It” music video, which features a cameo from tennis star Coco Gauff. Directed by Spike Jordan, the visual leans into themes of luxury and opulence. This transition into an executive role follows a prolific run with YSL Records, where Gunna achieved massive success with tracks like the Diamond-certified “Drip Too Hard” with Lil Baby, “Pushin P” featuring Future and Young Thug, and the viral hit “Hot” with Travis Scott.
Last August, Gunna released his sixth project, The Last Wun, which served as his final album under the YSL Records banner. With his new imprint, the rapper is now positioned to curate his own roster and further influence the sound of modern hip-hop.
