Hit-Boy Takes Shots at Kanye West at Nas Album Release Party

Hit-Boy is feeling himself.

During a release party for Nas’ new album King’s Disease II, which he executive produced, the Grammy-winning producer took a moment to boast about his disciplined work ethic, while seemingly taking shots at Kanye West. Without mentioning any names, Hit-Boy said he and Nas don’t need to create “hoopla” when they’re in the studio.

“It be a hundred ni**as in the studio. It’s just me and bro, bro,” he said as Nas looked on. “It’s just me and this ni**a in the studio. He’s barring up, I’m making beats. No hoopla. We’re not on fu**ing Twitter bothering y’all, we’re not on IG Live putting a fu**ing weird ass stream up, ni**a. We fu**in’ doing this shit for real. Stop playin, ni**a. We really do this shit.”

He also insinuated that Kanye needs a team to help produce and write whereas he and Nas work alone. “It’s not a hundred ni**as producing a beat. It’s not a hundred ni**as writing a rhyme.”

His comments were made the same night Kanye hosted his second live-streamed event for DONDA at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Thursday (Aug. 5). Ye also shared a live feed of himself living and working out of the stadium, while collaborators like Lil Yachty and The LOX stopped by.

Hit-Boy and Kanye have had their issues in the past. Back in September 2020, Hit-Boy opened up about his fallout with Ye. The super-producer, who helmed “Ni**as in Paris” and “Clique,” was previously signed to G.O.O.D. Music, but claims that Kanye stopped working with him once he collaborated with Beyoncé.

“I haven’t been a fan of Kanye on a personal/ human level since he told me face to face he stopped picking my beats because I worked with Beyoncé,” Hit wrote on Instagram. “this is after I produced ni**as in paris , clique, and a myriad of other songs / projects for him and his label GOOD Music in the 2 years I was signed with them.”

Ye responded on Twitter, writing, “I DIDN’T HAVE A PROBLEM WITH HIM PRODUCING FOR BEYONCÉ. I HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE FACT HE WAS SIGNED TO ME AND I DIDN’T KNOW BUT I KNEW JAY AND BEYONCÉ AND HIT-BOY … JUST FOR CLARITY.”
