Hot Country Knights called in its famous friends for the band’s debut video for “Pick Her Up,” which was released today (Jan. 24). Travis Tritt and actress Tiffani Thiessen appear in the humorous clip where the Knights give a young man some comical dating advice.
“Travis Tritt is our longtime spirit animal and we have spent many a long night in the back of the van dreaming of working with or maybe even FOR Tiffani,” said band leader Doug Douglason, who is Dierks Bentley’s alter ego, in a statement. “When UMG finally came around and signed us…they were two of our demands for the music video.”
In the nearly four-minute video, the Knights help a young man win the affections of his dream girl: Thiessen. One of the biggest heartthrobs of the ’90s, the actress played the role of Kelly Kapowski on Saved By the Bell, and in an interview with Billboard, Douglason said Thiessen made the video even better than the band could have dreamed.
“She’s an honorary Knight,” Douglason said. “She held her own. I think she might even have made the video better by being in it, which is saying a lot because we were in it … Country music's about to get saved by the bell to be honest. We were lucky we showed up in just the nick of time to rescue it. It’s getting pretty bleak out there. People want to hear kickass country music.”
