Dropkick Murphys won’t be pitching in Boston’s Red Sox Fenway Park Friday night (May 29), but the Celtic punk band will host the first-ever concert on the infield diamond with no fans in attendance.
Bruce Springsteen will virtually accompany the band for a Double Play during the performance that’s dubbed Streaming Outta Fenway, beginning at 6 p.m. ET tomorrow. The two-hour show will raise funds for the Boston Resiliency Fund, Habitat For Humanity and Feeding America.
“It beats playing at home,” Dropkick Murphys’ lead singer and bassist Ken Casey exclusively told Billboard earlier this month. “I didn’t really enjoy watching people play on their couches. It wasn’t endearing to me. It actually made me freak out more and go, ‘Oh my God. Even the biggest people are screwed as well.'”
Streaming Outta Fenway marks the first time a musical performance has ever taken place at an empty major U.S. arena, stadium or ballpark.
Fans can tune in to the concert on Springsteen’s exclusive SiriusXM radio channel 20 E Street Radio. Both SiriusXM subscribers and non-subscribers can also enjoy watching the livestream show for free until May 31. Encore performances will be available during the weekend, starting on Saturday, May 30 at 12 p.m. ET, Sunday, May 31 at 8 p.m. ET and ending on Monday, June 1 at 9 a.m. ET.
To kick off the show, Casey will tell fans what to expect from the electric spectacle in an interview with SiriusXM host Jim Rotolo tomorrow at 9 a.m. ET. Dropkick Murphys’ guest DJs Tim Brennan and Jeff DaRosa will host an exclusive takeover of the E Street Radio channel throughout the weekend, playing one-hour sets of their favorite Springsteen songs starting tomorrow at 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. ET, Saturday at 12 a.m. and 8 a.m. ET, Sunday at 6 p.m. ET, Monday at 4 p.m. ET and ending on Tuesday, June 2 at 12 a.m. and 8 a.m. ET.
