Introducing the Air Jordan 38

With July now underway, sneakerheads have been eagerly awaiting news from Jordan Brand surrounding its new silhouettes for the 2023-24 NBA season. Already, the Jumpman team has put forth two special reveals, including the much-anticipated Air Jordan 38. Just over a week ago, the brand showcased the sneaker’s debut “Fundamental” colorway and has now presented a breakdown of its details and two additional colorways.

Similar to the Air Jordan 37, the AJ38 looks 30 years to the past, utilizing the Air Jordan 8 as a point of inspiration. First, the new X-Plate backs sharp movement by constantly keeping the foot over the footbed, while appearing in an “X” shape that nods to the AJ8’s straps. In combination with this new element, the sole unit features a radial herringbone pattern that teams up with a full-length Zoom Strobel unit and full-length Cushlon 3.0 foam for responsive cushioning. Looking to the upper, it commemorates Michael Jordan’s incredible NBA Finals appearance in the 1992-93 season — 41 crosshatches nod to his 41 points-per-game average and the three medial diamonds note the Bulls’ third consecutive championship. Altogether, the shoe is the most sustainably-made Air Jordan yet, utilizing at least 20% recycled material by weight.

Release for the Air Jordan 38 begins with its “Fundamental” colorway on August 18 at a price of $200 USD. Following this, a “FIBA” look is set to launch on September 7 and a women’s-exclusive “Center Star” follows on September 25.

For more of the latest updates regarding Jordan Brand’s release roster for 2023, an Air Jordan 2 Low with “Varsity Royal” accents has been revealed, utilizing a color arrangement similar to fragment design’s takes on the Air Jordan 1.
