Coronavirus has led to the cancellation and postponement of concerts and tours, but it won’t stop J Balvin from brightening up our days with his upcoming Colores album.
On Thursday night, the Colombian powerhouse took to Instagram to ask his more than 36 million followers: “Mi gente, should we stop the release of Colores on March 20 or should we go out and give color in this gray moment?”
Billboard reached out to Balvin’s label, Universal Music, which confirmed that there are no changes to the release date. As of now, Colores will drop Friday, March 20, as planned.
In a matter of seconds, his fans pleaded with him not to push back the release date. Even fellow hitmakers like Tainy, Milkman and Cedric Gervais asked Balvin not to postpone the release. “Give us some of your happiness,” wrote Tainy. “Bro we need this,” Milkman commented, with Gervais adding, “Release it my G people need it!”
Ahead of his new album, Balvin has released the singles “Blanco,” “Morado” and, most recently, “Rojo.”
In his recent Billboard cover story, Balvin said that Colores will be a concept album and each song, named after a different color, will get its own music video directed by Colin Tilley, featuring psychedelic imagery from Japanese artist Takashi Murakami.
