As J Balvin’s “Blanco” hits No. 1 on the Latin Airplay chart (dated March 21), he logs his 21st leader since the chart’s inception in 1994. Balvin extends his runner-up record, trailing only Enrique Iglesias who continues at the helm with 30 No. 1s.
“Blanco” drives Bad Bunny’s “Vete” to No. 3 after its one-week reign.
“Blessed to have another No. 1 with ‘Blanco,’” J Balvin tells Billboard. “I have to thank my fans and my listeners for taking a chance on ‘Blanco,’ a song that was completely different from everything that was out in the genre. I took a big risk going left while everyone was going right but it paid off. Thank you all again, leggo!”
The first single from Balvin’s upcoming sixth studio album, Colores, pushes 8-1 in its 16th week. “Blanco” takes possession of the Latin Airplay crown thanks to a robust 47% boost in audience impressions (to 14 million) earned in the week ending March 15, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data. Further down the list, the album’s second single, “Morado,” lifts 14-13 in the current chart week.
On the Hot Latin Songs chart, which blends airplay, digital sales and streaming data, “Blanco” ascends 31-20 and takes the Greatest Airplay honors.
