After having doubts about whether he should postpone the release of his new album, J Balvin officially dropped Colores, his seventh studio album with 10 fresh tracks, including “Blanco” and “Rojo.”
The conceptual set, with each song named after a color, features collaborations with Sky and Mr. Eazi and is an intimate look at who J Balvin (real name: José Álvaro Osorio Balvin) is as a person and an artist. Released late Thursday Universal Music in the middle of a global health crisis, Balvin hopes his new album brings joy to his fans during these challenging times.
“This album was finally released because despite the circumstances (coronavirus pandemic) we stopped thinking about competing and selling,” he tells Billboard. “The idea is to bring light and happiness to people right now.”
Though his favorite color is black, Balvin says “Arcoiris” or rainbow is the best representation of Colores because it includes the entire color spectrum.
