Making the rounds with his fifth solo studio album Colores, J Balvin dropped the music video for “Verde” on Saturday (April 18).
The Sky Rompiendo-assisted track, with a giddy reggaeton melody and lyrics about a girl who’s the center of attention, becomes Balvin’s sixth Colores music video directed by Colin Tilley, following “Blanco,” “Morado,” “Rojo,” “Amarillo” and “Gris.”
The green-tinted clip is a playful take on the 1989 classic film Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, showing Balvin shrinking and dancing with a leprechaun as Sky is hanging out with friends at a backyard party.
Tilley is the mastermind behind Balvin’s recent visuals, giving them a cinematic, monochromatic and edgy vibe.
“The goal was to create different content that would really stand out and that the reggaetón world hadn’t really seen before,” Tilley said to Billboard in a recent interview “Jose is just the definition of a true collaborator.”
Specifying that the forthcoming music video for “Azul” (Blue) is “one of the most ridiculous ideas I’ve probably ever had,” Tilley added: “It’s one of those ideas that you could either seriously hate or love. And that’s what we strive for: You either will love it or hate it. It’s also about the feeling you get from color because when we listen to music, we see colors, you feel a color, and that’s the beauty of music.”
