Jack Black Talks TikTok Dance Video on 'Kimmel'

If you are one of the countless people who’ve smiled more than once thanks to Jack Black‘s insane TikTok dance video, you’re welcome. The singer/actor bounded onto Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday night (April 13) to explain why he joined the social media app and why his debut had to be a shirtless dance explosion.

“I feel like that’s the one thing I can do to contribute during this tough time,” Black said about trying to bring some joy during the emotionally draining COVID-19 lockdown.

“That’s our job Jimmy! We’ve got to try to keep the giggles coming!” Kimmel then unwittingly paid Black the biggest possible compliment when he dubbed him his generation’s Sammy Davis Jr.

“That’s the highest compliment you could pay me,” said Black, who revealed that his firstborn son, Sammy, was named after the renowned showman. “He is the ultimate triple-threat showman of the century,” he added, with Kimmel revealing that his first concert, at age 14, was a Sammy Davis Jr. show in his native Las Vegas.

Known for his energetic Kimmel entrances, Black asked the host to reboot the chat just a minute in so he could work up one of his signature walk-ons. Black then retreated to a far-away hall in his home and did a pirouetting, high-kicking run-on that included a very scary Easter bunny head and his son Tommy shooting Nerf darts at the camera over a heavy metal soundtrack, as well as some furious acoustic guitar strumming.

The Tenacious D singer also said he’s working very hard to help his sons with their quarantine homeschooling. He even built them a computer desk, which he said took him three days to assemble. “We don’t need to go into the details of how easy it should have been… I got it done, that’s all that matters,” Black said.
