Janet Weiss Updates Fans After Serious Car Accident: ‘I Dream About Playing Drums Again’

Former Sleater-Kinney drummer Janet Weiss has updated fans on her health status following a serious car accident that forced the musician to cancel an upcoming tour by her band Quasi.

On Saturday (Aug. 17), Weiss tweeted a photo of a stitched-up incision on her right leg, along with some words of appreciation for all the support she's received since last week's car accident.

"After 5 nights in the hospital, I'm happily settling into my home routine and feeling positive, basking in the overriding feelings of luck and gratitude and relief that bandmate Drew Grow] and I survived the accident," Weiss captioned the tweet.

The bad crash left Weiss with a broken right leg and broken left collar bone. Her doctors have recommended 12 weeks of recovery time, which means that Quasi's tour — which was set to begin Oct. 7 at Sunset Tavern in Seattle — won't be happening anytime soon.

"Three months in a wheelchair is going to be a challenge but you all inspire me to do my PT, rest up, stay healthy and strong," she continued in the tweet. "I dream about playing the drums again."

Weiss recently split with Sleater-Kinney after 24 years behind the kit with the band. The departure came a month before the release of the group's St. Vincent-produced album, The Center Won't Hold, released on Aug. 16.
