Beyoncé and JAY-Z have just become the new homeowners of a 30,000ft² mansion, situated in the prime location of Malibu, California. The power couple paid $200 million USD for the mansion in Malibu, setting the record for the most expensive home to be ever purchased within the state. According to TMZ, the Knowles-Carters seem to have snagged a pretty good deal on the property, as it was initially listed for $295 million USD.
Designed by Tadao Ando, the property is a minimalist masterpiece and architectural wonder. Previously owned and built by prolific art collector William Bell, the mansion is also one of few American homes by the Japanese master architect, who is currently working on Kanye West’s house in Malibu.
Despite its record-breaking price point, JAY-Z and Beyoncé’s new Malibu home isn’t the most expensive residential real estate deal in the entire country. The record is still kept by Ken Griffin’s four-story penthouse in NYC, which he had purchased for $238 million USD back in 2019.
