In an at-home video hangout with Dua Lipa and Charli XCX on April 20, Jennifer Lopez talked about the six-carat diamond engagement ring that she received from Ben Affleck in 2002, admitting that she “loved getting it.”
The conversation arose after Apple Music host Zane Lowe asked all three artists about their quarantine. Lopez, who got engaged to Alex Rodriguez on March 9, 2019, mentioned that she’s watching movies with her kids and introducing them to musicals, such as the 1968 Funny Girl starring Barbra Streisand.
“I met her Streisand] at an Oscar party, years ago, and I was at the time engaged to Ben Affleck, and she’s really into diamonds, which I didn’t know,” Lopez recalled. “He had given me a pink diamond, which got a lot of press and was whatever. I loved getting it, don’t get me wrong. So, she came up to me, and like, she’s heard of it. I’m like, ‘Oh My God.’ And she’s like, ‘Can I see your ring?’ And she asked me about the ring, but then she asked me – and I thought it was so strange – about being famous, and how I handle it.”
During the virtual hangout, Lopez also admitted that she ate McDonald’s for the first time in a long time at the beginning of the quarantine. “I haven’t had it in years and my son wanted to get some. I wanted the sundae, the apple pie, I don’t know when we’re going to go out again,” she noted.
The singer and actress recently told Ellen Degeneres that the current global health crisis has affected her and Rodriguez’s wedding plans.
“It did affect it a little bit but we will see what happens now. I really don’t know what’s going to happen now as far as dates. We’re in a holding pattern like the rest of the world. Again, we’re just going to wait and see how this whole thing is gonna span out.”
