Jennifer Lopez Tells Reese Witherspoon Why She Picked This Fan for 'Thanks a Million'

Jennifer Lopez jumped on Reese Witherspoon’s Instagram Live on Monday (April 6) to unpack her Quibi show Thanks a Million, where 10 celebrities give away $100,000 to a person who’s impacted them.

Lopez picked Zoe and Rosalia, a mother-daughter duo she encountered during a meet-and-greet at one of her concerts, for the “Love Don’t Cost a Thing” singer’s episode to kick off the show’s kindness chain. Witherspoon touched on its pay-it-forward goal — as each recipient of the $100,000 must give half of that money away and so on — when she recited her favorite line from the show: “Gratitude has an echo effect.” Then the Bronx-born superstar delved into why Zoe and Rosalia resonated as her No. 1 pick for the first 10-minute segment.

“I was on tour last year, and I was doing a concert. And afterwards, I usually do a meet-and-greet and I meet a bunch of the fans and it’s always one of my favorite parts of the show anyway,” the 50-year-old entertainer said. “I met this little girl, and I swear to God, it seemed like she was an angel sent from heaven…. There was something about her that was so pure and so loving and so kind. She has a disability, she’s in a wheelchair, but it in no way stops her shine. In no way does it stop her light. I just fell in love with her and never forgot her.”

Lopez told the fellow actress about how her team for the Quibi show was surprised that she remembered Zoe. “I just wanted to help her in some way. And we did, we had a connection that night,” she said. “It was moving for me because I love being inspired by other people. And it’s funny, you never know what’s gonna inspire you. Or who. And she absolutely did.”

Nick Jonas, Kevin Hart, Karlie Kloss and six other celebrities join Lopez’s cast as they donate a whopping $1 million to those who’ve inspired them the way Zoe inspired Lopez, a connection that’s palpable in the show’s trailer found below. Fans can start watching the first three episodes of her Thanks a Million show on the Quibi app.
