John Krasinski Had a Hilarious Reaction to Chris Martin’s ‘A Quiet Place’ Sequel Idea

Spoiler alert: he threw wife Emily Blunt under the bus.

In addition to admitting that he's an adorkable dad on Wednesday's Ellen, Coldplay's Chris Martin revealed that he came up with a great idea for a sequel to the super-creepy 2018 horror film A Quiet Place, and he even sent it to director/star John Krasinski and his co-star/wife Emily Blunt. He surprised host Ellen DeGeneres with the story after she played an ad for the upcoming A Quiet Place: Part II sequel during the show.

“May I tell you a story? I know we didn’t tell your researchers about this but I didn’t know you were going to play that trailer,” Martin said. He told Ellen that when the movie came out he had the best idea for a joke, which he sent to Blunt and Krasinski. "This idea for the musical of A Quiet Place and it was just me like that,” he said, miming playing the piano while silently mouthing some words.

"And they never replied. So every time I see that trailer it makes me feel sick," he joked. "I thought, ‘Oh no, they must have thought I was taking the Mickey.’ I wasn’t. I loved the film!” DeGeneres assured Martin that both Blunt and Krasinski have a great sense of humor and she was certain that he'd hear back from them now.

And, he did. A short time after the clip was posted to the Ellen Instagram page, asking if the couple had gotten that message from Martin, Krasinski wrote, "I… did not get an email from Chris Martin. The man is a world treasure. Are you kidding me!?!? Emily what have you done!?!?" That quip got a response from the show's Insta, which wrote, @johnkrasinski Well, blaming Emily seems like a great strategy."

Ball is in your court, Blunt.
