Voz de Mando lead vocalist Jorge Gaxiola has been named AfinArte Music’s head of A&R, Billboard can confirm.
Gaxiola also co-founded the independent regional Mexican music label whose roster includes chart-topping singer-songwriter El Fantasma, Los Dos Carnales, Los Dos De Tamaulipas, Voz de Mando and Kanales.
AfinArte is also betting on fresh talent by signing up-and-coming singer-songwriter Ruben Salazar, who has written songs for Gerardo Ortiz, Julión Álvarez and Banda El Recodo, and rising artist Adriana Ríos.
Gaxiola, along with AfinArte’s president Luis Sánchez and Eddie Magallón, the label’s co-founder and vice president, have expanded the company’s operations in Mexico and the U.S.
