Justin Timberlake Updates 'It's Gonna Be May' Meme For Coronavirus

Today is May 1, so you know what that means? It’s time to fire up the “It’s Gonna Be May” memes. And who better to spread them than Mr. May himself, Justin Timberlake? The annual ritual, inspired by a mis-hearing of *NSYNC’s 2000 single “It’s Gonna Be Me,” has been around for eight years, but Timberlake updated it for the COVID-19 era on Thursday (April 30).

The singer grabbed a classic curly-hair-don’t-care-era pic from his boy band days and photoshopped in a black mask as a nod to the protective measures we’re taking in the midst of the novel coronavirus pandemic. The caption on the picture read, “Spring Summer 2020. Thanks for this, Internet.”
