Like many of us, Kane Brown is looking back to a happier time on the new single “Cool Again.”
The jaunty track, which dropped Thursday (April 23) and will be a sure contender for song of the summer, sees the multiplatinum country artist reflecting on last summer when he and his love were drinking vodka and sodas with extra limes and were tangled up in each other.
“We wrote ‘Cool Again’ at a writing retreat when it was about 20 degrees outside,” Brown said. “At the time, it was about missing warm weather, but then it became so much more. It made us think about all the amazing memories of summer. We were really wanting to go back to that. I think there’s something people can really relate to in their lives, especially right now.” Brown wrote the track with Josh Hoge, Matthew McGinn and Lindsay Rimes, who also co-produced the lilting tune with Dann Huff.
Earlier this month, Brown released “Last Time I Say Sorry” with John Legend. The two performed the track together from their respective homes on CBS’s ACM Presents: Our Country on April 5.
