Call him Ye.
Kanye West has legally changed his name from Kanye Omari West to “Ye” after a court signed off on his petition. In August, the Yeezy mogul filed legal documents asking a court to bestow him with the new moniker and the judge just made it official.
Kanye has gone by the nickname “Ye” for years, even hinting at the name change back in September 2018.

After his new name was official, Ye took to Instagram on Monday to share a photo of the back of his shaved head twisted around to the front. He captioned it with the symbol “Â¥,” the currency sign used for Japanese yen and Chinese yuan. It’s unclear if he’s also changing his name to a symbol à la Prince.
Over the weekend, Ye provided the entertainment at the wedding of Tiffany & Co. EVP Alexander Arnault and D’Estree founder Geraldine Guiotte in Venice, Italy. He wore a mask and performed “Runaway” and “Flashing Lights” for the crowd, which included Beyoncé and JAY-Z.
He also earned his fifth No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week as a producer on Lil Nas X’s “Industry Baby.”
