Karol G's 2020 is off to a spectacular start, as she officially made her late-night television debut Friday night (Jan. 10) on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
After announcing her career milestone and documenting the journey on her Instagram stories, the Colombian singer took the stage, delighting the audience with a performance of her recent single “Tusa” in collaboration with Nicki Minaj.
Though the rapper did not make an appearance, Karol did not fail to deliver with her all-purple outfit, dancers, and set. She also busted a move or two, showing new followers what she’s all about.
After her performance, Fallon rushed on stage to greet Karol and promote her song. “Omg!” Karol expressed. “Mom, I’m on Jimmy Fallon!” On Instagram, she later thanked Fallon for the opportunity and "celebrating that my music is breaking language and cultural barriers.”
“Tusa,” which is Colombian slang for heartache, debuted at No. 1 on the Hot Latin Songs chart dated November 23, marking Minaj’s first No. 1 on any Latin chart. It's also the first song by a female Latin act to debut at No. 1 in three years since Shakira’s “Chantaje" featuring Maluma opened at No. 1 on chart dated Nov. 19, 2016.
