Mariah pre-approved the move.
If you’ve been missing your Kellyoke fix during the coronavirus lockdown, Kelly Clarkson had a little something, something for you on Thursday (March 19). With her daily talk show on hold during the COVID-19 pandemic, Clarkson brought the show to her Montana ranch as her family is self-isolating.
And she did it in the grandest way possible, with a screen-melting cover of Mariah Carey‘s 1990 “Vanishing.” Wearing a grizzly bear baseball hat and recording from the bathroom of the family’s cabin, Clarkson explained, “This is for Mariah because I know she saw that Voice episode, where I was like, ‘Track 5 I know that song!’,” with the caption, “That time ur quarantined, ur kids r sleeping so ur stuck in a bathroom & ur glam squad’s nowhere in sight.”
Singing a cappella, while holding her phone for the five-minute selfie session, Clarkson, of course, absolutely crushed it. Mariah definitely noticed the earlier shout-out on a recent episode of The Voice, where Clarkson mentioned track 5 in a bid to lure a singer to her team, and she even upped the ante. “Kelly, I’ll take your track 5 and raise you a track 3 on Meaning of Life!,” MC wrote of the song “Heat” from Clarkson’s 2017 album.
