Even though Wednesday’s (May 27) SpaceX mission was a bust, Kelly Clarkson still crushed an inspiring version of the National Anthem a few hours before the scrubbed launch.
The expected blastoff from Florida’s Cape Canaveral was slated for late Wednesday afternoon — marking the first crewed space flight to take off from U.S. soil since the shuttle program was mothballed in 2011 — but the weather didn’t cooperate and the countdown was halted.
That didn’t stop Clarkson from getting gathered dignitaries including the president and vice president hyped for the launch-that-wasn’t with her at-home rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner” as American astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley were strapped into position.
The next launch window of opportunity is at 3:22 p.m. ET on Saturday (May 30).
