Kesha found the best way to keep fans entertained in quarantine by interviewing her cat Mr. Peeps, which she shared exclusively with Billboard on Thursday (May 28).
Kesha kicks off the kiki with her celebrated kitty by asking how it feels to be the “most famous cat that’s ever existed.” (Mr. Peeps remains, after all, Billboard‘s reigning fan-favorite celebrity cat of 2019.) “It feels like I’m finally starting to get a little bit of respect around here, maybe,” Mr. Peeps cheekily responds in voiceover while sniffing the superstar’s hand for a treat.
Partway through the interview, the cat has clearly had enough, jumping down from his chair multiple times with a huffy, “I say when interview is over!” before being coaxed back by Kesha. It’s also hilariously clear that Mr. Peeps runs the show in Kesha’s house, as the latter is forced to defend her own status as an award-winning musician to the award-winning animal.
“This is my house, Mr. Peeps,” she says. “I hate to break it to you, but just ’cause you’re the best cat in the universe — award-winning cat — doesn’t mean that I haven’t won awards too, you know. I won some awards.”
Kesha’s case in point? She took home the trophy for best new artist in Poland back in 2011 — an accolade Mr. Peeps is less than impressed by. (Even better, however, is Kesha’s off-the-cuff story that she took the award with her to Joshua Tree, Calif. after the ceremony and “made out with a ginger.”)
