King & Prince rockets to No. 1 on this week’s Billboard Japan Hot 100, dated June 8 to 14, with their new single, “Mazy Night.”
The Johnny’s boy band’s latest release sold 531,162 copies, the group’s second-best first-week sales next to its debut single, “Cinderella Girl” (622,701 copies), indicating that they have solidified their fanbase since their CD debut in 2018.
YOASOBI’s “Yoru ni kakeru” falls to No. 2 after holding at No. 1 for three consecutive weeks, but continues to rule streaming and video views for the fourth week. While figures for both metrics have increased from the previous week — streaming from 9,389,535 to 9,524,898 streams, video from 13,735,236 to 14,251,584 views, respectively — the total wasn’t enough to overtake the sales of “Mazy Night.”
Eito’s “Kousui” at No. 3 also continues to perform well, topping downloads with 19,716 units (up from 11,392 units) and coming in at No. 2 for streaming and video views, with 7,844,618 streams (up from 7,324,528 streams) and 7,020,235 views (up from 5,922,648), respectively.
Aimyon’s “Hadaka no kokoro” returns to the top 10 after the singer-songwriter appeared on various media to promote the single’s CD release on Wednesday (June 17), which hiked up downloads this week (11,067 units, No. 4). Streaming is Aimyon’s forte, and the song she wrote for the boy band DISH// called “Neko – THE FIRST TAKE ver. -” has also been steadily climbing the tally, currently at No. 11 after seven weeks in the top 100.
The Billboard Japan Hot 100 combines physical and digital sales, radio airplay, Twitter mentions, YouTube and GYAO! video views, Gracenote look-ups, audio streams from Amazon Music Unlimited, Apple Music, AWA, Google Play Music, KKBOX, LINE MUSIC, Rakuten Music, RecMusic provided by Gfk Japan, dHits, Uta Pass and Spotify, plus karaoke data from Daiichikosho and XING (excluded until further notice).
