Lady Antebellum Performs 'What I'm Leaving For' at ACM Presents: Our Country

Lady Antebellum‘s heartfelt song “What I’m Leaving For” became even more powerful Sunday night (April 5), as the country trio sang the song to pay homage to those battling the coronavirus on the frontlines on ACM Presents: Our Country.

“What I’m Leaving For,” from the group’s latest album Ocean, is about the sacrifices some parents have to make in order to provide for their family — a message that has become especially relevant to first responders during these uncertain times. Before Lady Antebellum performed the tune together (from their respective homes, of course), singer Hillary Scott declared that the song was dedicated to all those emergency workers. “Walking out of your house, leaving your family, it’s not easy to do what you have to do,” she said.

She was joined by her bandmates Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood for an emotional rendition of the song, with their three-part harmonies giving a haunting feel to the song, even while they were all apart. Kelley and Haywood were joined by their sons Wade and Cash, respectively, making the performance hit home even more.

Shania Twain, Tim McGraw, Kelsea Ballerini, Kane Brown & John Legend, Florida Georgia Line and many more country stars will be performing hits from their homes during Sunday night’s special, airing on CBS.
