Plus, Jason Derulo earns a new career best.
Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande fly 5-1 on Billboard’s Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart (dated July 18) with “Rain on Me.” The collab is the fourth No. 1 on the list for Gaga and the third for Grande.
Airplay for “Rain” pours in from core-dance affiliates, including SiriusXM’s BPM, Music Choice’s Dance/EDM channel and KNHC (C89.5) Seattle, according to Nieslen Music/MRC Data. (The Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart measures radio airplay on a select group of full-time dance stations, along with plays during mix shows on nearly 80 top 40-formatted reporters.)
The track is Gaga’s first leader in nine years, since “Born This Way” ruled for a week in April 2011. Her other toppers: “Bad Romance” (one week, 2010) and “Poker Face” (15 weeks, 2009). For Grande, “Rain” follows “Love Me Harder” (with The Weeknd; three weeks, 2015) and “Break Free” (featuring Zedd; three weeks, 2014).
Previously, “Rain” reigned on the Billboard Hot 100 (June 6), Hot Dance/Electronic Songs and Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs (two weeks each, June 6 and 13) and Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales (three weeks, June 6, 20 and 27). “Rain” remains at No. 2 for a fifth frame on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, behind SAINt JHN’s “Roses (Imanbek Remix),” which leads for an 11th week.
Also on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, “Coño,” billed as by Jason Derulo X Puri X Jhorrmountain or X Adje, debuts at No. 8. Derulo adds his second top 10, while the song is the first for each of the other acts. For the Derulo mix, he replaces Adje on the track (originally released in 2017). The song has received renewed interest, as the soundtrack to the coño dance, on TikTok and earned 2.4 million U.S. streams and sold 2,000 in the week ending July 9. “Coño” (a slang term) eclipses the peak of Derulo’s previous top 10, “Goodbye,” with David Guetta and featuring Nicki Minaj and Willy William (No. 9, 2018).
