Hot on the heels of her new single “Stupid Love,” Lady Gaga announced on Monday (March 2) the long-awaited release date for her sixth studio album. Titled Chromatica, the new project executive produced by BloodPop and Gaga, will be available to stream and purchase starting on April 10 Interscope Records.
Along with announcing the hotly-anticipated album, Gaga also unveiled some temporary artwork to go with it. On her Instagram, the star posted a photo of a pink symbol above the phrase “LG-6” (the abbretion fans have long used to reference her sixth album) to announce the news, but assured fans that the image is not the final cover art for the album.
“This is not the album cover but we made it for you to enjoy in the meantime,” she wrote.
In a press release, it was also revealed that Gaga’s new album would be arriving in a variety of different formats. Along with a digital and CD release, Chromatica will be available in a number of different vinyl colors, along with an exclusive clear LP on the singer’s website.
In an interview last week with Beats 1’s Zane Lowe, Gaga revealed that the title Chromatica came from her desire to create an escape from reality. “I think what I’ve learned is that I can view the world in whatever way I choose to see it, and it doesn’t mean that I’m deleting the bad things, it just means that I can reframe my life experiences,” she said. “I live on Chromatica, that is where I live … I found earth, I deleted it. Earth is canceled. I live on Chromatica.”
