Lamb Of God Debut New Nonalcoholic Beer

Vocalist Randy Blythe says the band is 'stoked' to offer the drink while fans are 'cranking some tunes safely at home.'

Groove metal act Lamb of God has partnered with craft brewery BrewDog to create Ghost Walker, a drink that is being touted as “the world’s first nonalcoholic collaboration beer.”

Ghost Walker is described as having “a hop-forward flavor with less than 0.5% alcohol. Tropical aromas harmonize with grassy pine notes, all sitting on a solid malt baseline.”

It became available today (April 14) through BrewDog’s online shop for global shipping. The beer is named after Lamb of God’s song “Ghost Walking” from its 2012 album Resolution; vocalist Randy Blythe wrote the lyrics at the beginning of his journey to sobriety.

In a statement, Blythe explained that the idea of a collaboration sprung from when he and Lamb of God guitarist Willie Adler visited a BrewDog bar in Columbus, Ohio, to sample its nonalcoholic beer with the brewery team.

“Countless bands have done beer collaborations, but we are the world’s first nonalcoholic one,” said Blythe. “In my not-so-humble opinion, this is the best nonalcoholic beer ever made, period. It was conceived, designed and first tasted while on tour — music drove it into existence. Right now is a strange time for everyone, but we’re stoked to provide a nonalcoholic option for those who want to have a brew while cranking some tunes safely at home.”

Originally, the announcement was going coincide with the start of Lamb of God’s global tour that would have begun at the end of March, but the outing has been postponed because of the COVID-19 outbreak. The band and BrewDog instead launched the beer by premiering Lamb of God’s most recent live performance of “Ghost Walking,” which was at Chicago’s House of Vans on Feb. 14, at lambofgodbeer.com.

Lamb of God intend to serve Ghost Walker at their North American and European shows when they return to the road. Tour dates will be announced on both Lamb of God and BrewDog’s websites when they are finalized.
