Lil Wayne Reveals Collaborators on Upcoming Album ‘Tha Carter VI,’ Speaks On Relationship With Kendrick

Lil Wayne has been itching to prove his mettle ever since he felt he got robbed off his rightful performance slot at the Superbowl. In the midst of controversy, Lil Wayne doubled down on the sentiment and announced the commencement of Tha Carter VI era. True to the promise, Wayne has now revealed more about the album and the people that are currently on it — a fascinating list of names to say the least.

Not only is Wayne collaborating with his son Kameron Carter on the album, he may also be sampling Billie Eilish on a record. Other notable collaborators on the album include Miley Cyrus, Wyclef Jean, Bono, Machine Gun Kelly, Andrea Bocelli, Elephant Man and Wheezy. Speaking to Rolling Stone, the rapper also revealed that Kanye, too, was supposed to be a part of the project but did not make the final cut. This isn’t surprising especially considering how selective Wayne might want to be with a project he has spent six years on.

Now, while the album was announced in the middle of heated emotions, Wayne has gone on record to clarify his stance and talk about his relationship with Kendrick Lamar and Drake. Fans may be surprised to learn that Lil Wayne and Kendrick are “fine.” At the same time, he clarified that he didn’t want Drake to be “mad” at him, and that his singing along to ‘Not Like Us,’ was purely coincidental; he apparently did not know it was a Kendrick record aimed at Drake!

Controversy aside, Wayne seems to be making bizarre sonic choices for the album’s sonic make-up, which is evident by the spectrum of collaborators on the project. Question is, will it match up or even outdo the legendary Carter catalogue? Stay tuned to find out!
