Lindsay Ell’s new video for “I Don’t Love You,” premiering exclusively on Billboard today (March 6), shows the country singer in a field of flowers as she contemplates a former love. A poignant ballad, Ell’s vocals soar alongside memorable guitar riffs.
Directed by Justin Keys, the visual shows Ell picking petals that bring to mind the “he loves me, he loves me not” mindset as her uncertainty about the relationship’s end comes to fruition in the song’s lyrics. “I don’t love you/ Baby, I don’t love you/ I don’t love you anymore/ But I still miss you, still miss you sometimes,” she croons.
“I Don’t Love You” was written by Adam Hambrick, Melissa Fuller and Neil Medley and is the lead track from Ell’s forthcoming Dann Huff-produced sophomore album.
“Often times artists are nervous about the high pressure of their sophomore album, but I truly cannot wait to release this new music,” Ell tells Billboard. “I’ve been working on myself a lot in the past couple years, and have been writing about the whole process. I feel like I’ve done the work, and have come out the other side finally ready to take control of my life.
“I am really proud of this music and ‘I Don’t Love You’ was the perfect thing I wanted to come out and say first,” she adds. “Working with Dann Huff has challenged me musically in ways I’ve never showcased before, and I feel ‘I Don’t Love You’ pushes those boundaries in a whole new voice I’ve never used before.”
“I Don’t Love You” follows the success of Ell’s first No. 1 with “What Happens in a Small Town,” her duet with Brantley Gilbert.
