Listen To Dr. Octagon's "Moosebumps: An Exploration Into Modern Day Horripilation"

For fans Dr. Octagon, another album seemed like a long lost fantasy. But on Friday (March 30), Kool Keith, Dan The Automator and DJ Q-Bert made dreams come true withMoosebumps: An Exploration Into Modern Day Horripilation, their first proper follow-up to 1996’s underground cult classic, Dr. Octagonecologyst.

A week ahead its ficial release, the album is currently available for streaming courtesy an NPR First Listen.

“I would say if there was an old cult movie that got remade and it was better than the original, this is like that,” Q-Bert tells HipHopDX about the project.

Dan adds, “This is the best time you can have without the risk contracting moosebumps.”

The group’s sole MC, Kool Keith, issimply happyto be back. “It feels great,” he tells DX. “We’re injectin’ more ‘breakin’ rules’ in music.”

Along with the stream, the tenured trio has released a video for “Flying Waterbed,” which follows the previously released singles, “Octagon Octagon” and “Area 54.”

Directed byJoel Knoernschild, the visual takes notes from old Kung-Fu flicks, and stars Q, Dan and Keith at a Tokyo temple, assessing the martial arts skills a tea master. At the same time, Interpol’s Paul Banks and a paper dragon help Keith with the vocals through a marijuana haze.

Q-Bert reveals there’s one issue with the final product.

“The first solo on ‘Bear Witness IV’ is the exact same solo as the second solo, plus the first one was inserted f beat,” Q-Bert admits. “Dan] said it was an accident, so he’s gonna fix it for the iTunes and download versions. But the album version will be a collector’s item now with that as a misprint laughs].”

Moosebumps: An Exploration Into Modern Day Horripilationis expected to arrive on April 6.
