Lizzo has had enough of the trolls. The "Truth Hurts" singer announced Sunday that she would be kicking off 2020 by undergoing a social media cleanse and stepping away from Twitter for the foreseeable future.
"Yeah I can’t do this Twitter shit no more.. too many trolls," Lizzo wrote. "I’ll be back when I feel like it."
Over the weekend, Lizzo's tweets seemingly hinted that the negativity online was starting to have an impact on her day-to-day life. "'I been gettin to the money, errbody mad' becomes more and more relatable each day," she said.
With an Iran-United States dispute on the horizon, Lizzo also took the time to get serious and salute the troops putting their lives on the line for America.
"PRAYING AND THANKFUL FOR YOU AND EVERYONE WHO ENLISTED TO SERVE. PRAYING FOR THE CITIZENS OF IRAQ/IRAN WHO WILL BE EFFECTED," the Detroit native continued. "Say what you want about the government and the military.. these are human beings, your sisters and brothers and mother and father out there putting their lives on the line. If you made a funny/rude meme or joke, try to balance it out with something kind."
Twitter is a better place with Lizzo popping jokes on it. Hopefully, she makes her return at some point later this year when she sees fit. Find her Twitter hiatus announcement below.
