Two months following Pharrell’s appointment as Louis Vuitton’s menswear creative director, the French fashion house has delivered the first batch of goods under its fresh leadership. A precursor to Pharrell’s debut show for the Maison during Paris Fashion Week in June, the luxury label has pulled back the curtain on a limited-edition range of merchandise, made in collaboration with the multi-threat visionary’s Something in the Water music festival.
Louis Vuitton specifies that the collection was not designed by Pharrell, but rather, it was crafted “in celebration of†the House’s next era, under his direction. Stocked inside a three-story pyramid built at the festival, which runs until Sunday in the designer’s hometown of Virginia Beach, the drop features a checkered denim jacket, a graphic hoodie and three T-shirts.
The line puts a Vuitton twist on Pharrell’s hometown state slogan: “Virgina Is For Lovers.†In bright tones, the Maison’s monogram merges with the aforementioned lettering on the front of T-shirts, while their back sides are printed with bold text reading, “PARIS TO VA, VA TO PARIS.†An identical, embroidered iteration of the collaborative slogan plants itself on the back of the denim jacket, which dons LV’s Damier print, and the hoodie alike.
Overall, the capsule pays a straightforward homage to Pharrell’s roots, managing not to give away any clues as to what to expect from the newly-appointed designer’s forthcoming reign at Louis Vuitton.
The limited-edition collection is available to purchase at Louis Vuitton’s Something in the Water storefront for VIP pass holders and on the brand’s website now. Prices range from $860 USD to $3,050 USD. Peruse the range in the gallery above.
