The film is set to follow the group’s rise through the ‘80s, while also documenting the band’s highs and lows.

MGK took to Twitter to celebrate the announcement. He later revealed he got the studio to hire his younger brother to teach him how to play the drums.

In addition to The Dirt, MGK has a number other acting gigs on the horizon. He is set to star alongside Sandra Bullock in Netflix’s upcoming thriller Bird Box, as well as in Rupert Wyatt’s sci-fi film, Captive State.

MGK’s last film appearance was in 2016’s The Land, which was executive produced by Nas. The film – set in MGK’s hometown Cleveland, Ohio – also featured Erykah Badu. Before that, the Bay Boy Records rapper starred in the first and only season Showtime’s comedy-drama series, Roadies.
