Madonna is not happy with the abrupt curtain call she got at the London Palladium on Wednesday night (Feb. 5). The singer claimed in an Instagram post that her "Madame X" show was shut down in a surprising manner after she ran over the 11 p.m. curfew.
"it was 5 minutes past our 11:00 curfew—-we had one more song to do and The Palladium decided to censor us by pulling.down the metal fire curtain that weighs 9 tons. Fortunately they stopped it half way and no one was hurt," the pop icon wrote alongside footage of her yelling a string of obscenities as the curtain closed and she yelled "artists are here to disturb the peace. f–k you!"
The camera then panned to a sea of fans clapping and yelling for the singer, as she and her dancers emerged from behind the red velvet curtain and continued to perform even after the feed to the microphones was cut as they sang the Madame X song "I Rise" a cappella. "I rise up above it all," they sang.
Meanwhile, two Madonna fans filed a class-action lawsuit against the singer in New York this week afer they claimed the Queen of Pop showed up three hours late to Brooklyn concerts on Sept. 21 and Oct. 1, 2019. That suit followed a previous class-action filed in November by a Florida resident, who sought more than $15,000 in damages after promoter Live Nation refused to refund his tickets to a Madame X show after he was informed the concert would be starting two hours late.
Madonna seemingly responded to that suit during a Las Vegas concert on Nov. 8, stating, "H]ere is something that you all need to understand and that is that a queen is never late."
At press time the London Palladium had not returned request for comment and a Live Nation spokesperson had no additional comment.
