On Thursday August 29th, some the biggest stars in Hip-Hop and R&B were in Atlanta, GA at the Byers Theatre – Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center for the 2019 BMI/Hip-Hop Awards.
The 2019 BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards saluted the top songwriters, producers, publishers and administrators the past year’s 36 most-performed R&B/Hip-Hop songs in the United States from BMI’s repertoire more than 13 million musical works.
The night was also a celebration R&B living legend Brandy Norwood as BMI honored her great career. As some the BMI awards nominees and artist walked the red carpet before the BMI awards, Terrell Thomas spoke with creative/ chef/ music consultant Mali Hunter.
Mali Hunter has been known behind the scenes for years but over the years recently, more the general public. Mali Hunter runs the world famous Tree Sound Studio in Atlanta and she has curated some the biggest events in the south. Most the hits we hear today on the radio were recorded, mixed or mastered at Tree Sound.
Mali opened up and spoke with Terrell about her upcoming Women in music creative camp taking place in October, Dreamville recording their latest project at Tree Sound, her team working on Missy Elliott’s new proejct and more.
