The singer says she’s recording with her husband, Taylor Goldsmith.
It's been more than a decade since Mandy Moore released a new album. But that long wait might be over soon. The This Is Us actress teased fans with news about her recent studio sessions on Thursday (June 6) a series of pictures for recordings that could finally provide the long-awaited follow-up to 2009's Amanda Leigh album.
"In the middle of making new music with some of my favorite people ever (@themikeviola, @dawestheband, @taylordawesgoldsmith, @herbadams). Can’t WAIT for you guys to hear what we’re cooking up….– by the great @jonny_stills — — –," she wrote in an Instagram post that featured her in front of a mic.
Goldsmith is, of course, Moore's husband, the singer/guitarist in Dawes, while Viola is a Grammy-nominated producer (Jenny Lewis, Fall Out Boy) and former leader of the band the Candy Butchers and Jason Boesel is the former drummer in Rilo Kiley.
In the series of nine pictures, Moore is seen laying down vocals, while also giving her all-star session crew some shine and including a short clip of a new, untitled folky song that spotlights her clear, urgent vocals. The singer, who recently celebrated her journey to the Mount Everest Base Camp, has not announced a potential release date for the new music.
Back in April, following the season three cliff-hanger finale of NBC’s This Is Us, the "Candy" singer appeared on the now-canceled Busy Tonight to reveal that she was writing new music for the first time in 10 years.
“I haven’t put out a record in a decade,” she said. But with Us on hiatus, Moore said she was "writing with my friends, I’m writing with my husband," describing her intended sound as something "like what Fleetwood Mac would sound like in 2019.”
