Mumford & Sons frontman Marcus Mumford released a stripped-down piano cover of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “You’ll Never Walk Alone” on Friday (March 20), and it’s for a good cause.
Proceeds from the streams and downloads will aid The Grenfell Foundation and War Child UK — two organizations that aid vulnerable communities in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The single was in the works prior to the announcement of the global pandemic and was originally slated to air on a TV show in production, but “for lots of reasons we wanted it just to be out in the world sooner rather than later, so here it is,” the singer shared on the song’s YouTube page.

The show tune was first featured in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s 1945 musical, Carousel, but has most recently become a British anthem of solidarity during the coronavirus outbreak.
