Mariah Carey rang in her birthday on Friday (March 27) by hitting the studio to record a brand new song.
“Starting 3.27 with a new song,” the superstar wrote alongside a grinning selfie on Twitter, using the hashtag #stayhome to remind her Lambs to stay safe and indoors while she preps new music for them.
As diehard Lambs know, the exact year of Mimi’s birth has remained a mystery throughout her illustrious career, making today either her 50th or 51st birthday. (Naturally, this tracks for the icon, who has repeatedly refused to acknowledge the concept of things like time or aging over the years.)
Whatever Carey is cooking up in the studio will be her first new music since 2018’s Caution, and will arrive on the heels of her classic Christmas hit “All I Want For Christmas Is You” becoming her 19th No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 a full quarter century after its release.
