In just four days, Mary J. Blige will take center stage with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and Kendrick Lamar at the Pepsi Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show.
Ahead of Super Bowl Sunday, the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul is revealing what fans can expect from the music icons’ historic performance at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif.
“Man this thing is the most epic thing in music, like in hip-hop, R&B history, this is — man L.A. is never ever gonna be the same,†Blige told “Good Morning America.†“I watched the rehearsals — watching each person’s performance, I had goosebumps watching it.â€
The 12-minute spectacular, which is reportedly costing Dre millions out of his own pocket, will feature some of the greatest songs in music history accompanied by dazzling visual elements.
“Just know this. It’s some history, man,†said Blige, who previously performed at the 2001 halftime show alongside NSYNC, Britney Spears, and Nelly. “It’s a celebration how far you know hip-hop has come, how far R&B has come, how far you know just you know, music and our culture.â€
Before she takes the stage, Blige will release her 15th studio album, Good Morning Gorgeous, on Friday featuring Anderson .Paak, Fivio Foreign, Dave East, and Usher.
Snoop Dogg is also looking forward to sharing the stage with his friends, calling the opportunity to perform at the Super Bowl in his hometown a “dream come true.â€
“We’re all one. We’re all united together,†he told The Associated Press. “If you really look at it, that’s what the world needs to understand that we need to come together as opposed to division or separation.â€
