MC Lyte is a legend in hip hop, an dnow she’s helping to bring the genre to the small screen with a new 30-minute sitcom.
Hip hop will hopefully dominate television once again with a new sitcom series. for many artists that have entered into the scene in the last few decades, and now she’s taking her talents to the small screen. According to a report made by Deadline, MC Lyte is joining forces with Bentley Kyle Evans to create a new UMC half-hour scripted series titled Partners in Rhyme. If Evans’s name isn’t familiar to you, his work most certainly should be. He’s known for being the executive producer for shows including the likes of Martin and The Show.

“Partners in Rhyme follows the life of a female high school rapper, social media star and foster kid who thinks she is the next ,” Deadline wrote of the synopsis. is set to star “as a label executive charged with helping the difficult but talented new artist navigate the industry.” Creators are holding nationwide casting calls to search for new talent.
“It’s an honor to be in business with UMC for Partners in Rhyme,” MC Lyte said. “Teaming up with Bentley Evans and Harvest Studios made the creative process an amazing journey. I’m even more excited that my production company, Sunni Gyrl, led by Lynn Richardson, who also serves as Executive Producer, has planted its feet in the production world. I’m excited to see all of the casting submissions and find our co-star.”
